Field Study Student Assistant

Approximate Hours per week: 10-12

Position Type: On Campus Work Study

Location: In-Person (some remote for Fall)

 

Description:

Under the supervision of the field study director and coordinator, the Field Study Student Assistant supports the delivery of vital student advising and administrative services. This position will assist with student appointments, respond to student correspondence, and present student-focused workshops. Additionally, this position provides administrative support in the form of data entry and management, research, and report writing. Additional duties as assigned. This is an excellent opportunity for a student to work closely with the Undergraduate Student Advising and Field Study staff and develop a broad and strong skill set relevant to many future graduate school and career opportunities in Social Ecology-related fields. We are looking for a student who can commit to fall, winter, and spring of the 2021-2022 school year (with the possibility of a work extension into summer).

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Major within the School of Social Ecology 
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Powerpoint, and Word (experience with Microsoft Access highly preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides 
  • 3.5 overall GPA
  • Completion of statistics coursework (SE 13 or equivalent)
  • Junior Standing (90+ units) strongly preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with working in an office environment
  • Ability to be empathetic and sensitive to students from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to routinely work independently on assignments
  • Ability to follow up and follow through on assignments, seeking assistance and clarification when needed.
  • Access to a secure and reliable internet connection
  • Access to a secure and reliable laptop or desktop
  • Work-study candidates preferred
