Option: UC Center Sacramento

UC Center Sacramento is the University of California’s teaching, research and public-service site located one block from the State Capitol Building. Operated by UC Davis, UCCS offers distinctive academic programs in public policy and journalism to students from throughout the university’s 10-campus system. These two programs provide students with an opportunity to study through seminars and internships in and around the state Capitol.

  • Enroll in courses offered by UC Davis.
    • The following courses have been successfully petitioned as fulfilling 4 units of SocEcol 195, Field Study
      • POL 192A  Internship in Public Affairs, 193 Research in Practical Politics and 108 Policy Making in the Public Sector = 4 units of SocEcol 195 Field Study
      • PolSci 192A/B Internship in Public Affairs = 4 units of SocEcol 195 Field Study
      • PolSci 192A Internship in Public Affairs and 107 Environmental Politics and Administration = 4 units of SocEcol 195 Field Study
      • PolSci 192A Internship in Public Affairs and 195 Special Studies in American Politics = 4 units of SocEcol 195 Field Study
    • The following courses have been successfully petitioned as fulfilling 8 units of SocEcol 195, Field Study
      • Pol 192A Internship in Public Affairs AND Pol Sci 195 The California Policy Seminar
  • Students DO NOT enroll at UCI during the quarter they are in Sacramento.

How does this option apply to degree requirements?

Once the UC Sacramento experience has been completed, students must submit a Course Waiver Petition to formally request that the UC Davis courses be applied toward the Field Study requirement.

The courses must first appear in DegreeWorks before they can be reviewed and applied toward the requirement.
